Photographer, South Africa (b. 1987)
Stephanie Blomkamp is a self-taught photographer. Born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1987, she immigrated to Canada in 1997. After earning a BA in English Literature from the University of British Columbia, where she was the president of the photographic society, she went on to work in the film industry as a stills photographer on major productions in North America. Her urge to pursue more traditional forms of photography led her to London where she studied Art History at Sotheby’s and embarked on her Shroud series. Her photography has been displayed at The Royal Academy of Art. Blomkamp now resides in Cape Town and has recently launched Oath magazine, a bi-annual photography and art publication.
